The medical price regulator, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority, has revised the prices of 128 drug formulations. The list includes several well-known antibiotics and antiviral medications, including amoxicillin, vancomycin, the asthma medication salbutamol, trastuzumab, ibuprofen, paracetamol, etc.

The notification released by the authority stated that all manufacturers of scheduled formulations selling the branded, generic, or both versions of the formulation at a price higher than the ceiling price should revise the prices so that they are below the ceiling prices. The authority has also fixed the retail prices of 12 scheduled formulations under the Drugs Order 2013, which include combinations of anti-diabetic medications like Glimepiride, Voglibose, and Metformin.

As per the new notification, the ceiling price of amoxicillin and paracetamol has been fixed at Rs. 2.18 and Rs. 2.76, respectively. The price of an ibuprofen 400 mg tablet has been fixed at Rs. 1.07.
